Rev. Bruin Romkes Comingo

Rev. Bruin Romkes Comingo (1723-1820) was born in Groningen, Netherlands and came to Nova Scotia in 1751 as a wool-comber.  He was among the settlers of LUnenburg in 1753 and became a fisherman.
In 1770, although not theologically trained but possessed of the "Tongue of the Learned," he was ordained at Halifax as minister of the Dutch Reformed (Calvinist) Church for Lunenburg.
He served the church for 50 years, respected for his piety and integrity.  A cairn marks his resting place in the churchyard.
